Three New Cases of West Nile Virus Diagnosed in South Dakota

SOUTH DAKOTA -
Warmer and wetter weather means it's perfect combination for mosquitoes and the West Nile virus.

South Dakota has announced three new diagnosed cases of West Nile virus, bringing the total for the year up to six.
One of the new patients is a Lincoln County resident in their 20's.
State health officials are warning everyone to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.

That includes using repellants, wearing long-sleeved shirts and pants, staying indoors from dusk until midnight and getting rid of any standing water, where mosquitos breed.
