Marina Del Rey Hospital to Integrate ActiveDEFENDER for Registration Accuracy and More

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 02, 2014

HealthWare Systems today announced a multi-year agreement with Marina Del Rey Hospital, a 145-bed surgical facility located in Marina del Ray, California. Marina Del Rey Hospital will now utilize ActiveDEFENDER, HealthWare Systems closed-source software module for patient encounter management and registration accuracy. The solution is designed to prevent data errors from occurring during patient registration and beyond.

Marina Del Ray Medical Center has been a longstanding client, and we are excited to launch ActiveDEFENDER within their facility, said Steve Gruner, CEO of HealthWare Systems. ActiveDEFENDER is fundamentally changing the way health systems handle QA efforts and registration accuracy. Instead of back-end exception processing, ActiveDEFENDER delivers front-end prevention, with continuous monitoring throughout the entire patient experience.

According to HealthWare representatives, ActiveDEFENDER audits all fields in a post-registration process, using HL7 data combined with other account deficiency sources. This detection process is performed on 100 percent of patient registrations. The results are compiled using custom reports and work objects, which can be assigned to appropriate parties for prioritization and tracking. Beyond QA, ActiveDEFENDER also features accountability tools, deadline enforcements, patient status-change management, high-balance accounts management, concurrent review work queues, reconciliation routines, and comprehensive reporting.

In addition to eliminating unnecessary rework, ActiveDEFENDER is an essential tool for revenue cycle management, Gruner emphasized. As weve seen with other clients, we expect MDRH will now stem reimbursement delays, underpayments, and permanent denials that used to equal costly write-offs.

Marina Del Ray Hospital is a physician-owned facility, offering world-class spine, weight loss, orthopedics, and minimally-invasive surgery expertise. ActiveDEFENDER will work alongside the hospitals advanced technologies to achieve excellence in service, as well as quality care outcomes.
