Flooding River Threatens Sioux City Boat Club

SIOUX CITY, IA - At the Missouri River Boat Club in Sioux City Thursday morning, people were moving everything out of the clubhouse and patios on to higher ground.

The Big Sioux River has already washed away 32 docks.

"We do have a couple of aircraft lined up to go down the river, find our docks and pick them up," said Missouri River Boat Club Fleet Captain Dennis Butler. "You know, what pieces we can pick up."

Butler says this will be the fifth time he's helped rebuild the docks since the late 1970's.

He says four of the docks have been found already and they're tied up by the Sioux Gateway Airport.

One boat washed away early Thursday morning, he says it's still missing.
