UNION COUNTY, SD -
Union County officials are asking residents to take steps against flooding.
Protective measures are being taken to keep the swollen Big Sioux River from inundating Union County communities, but officials ask that citizens take responsibility for their own safety. "We are doing all we can to get protective measures in place, but those who are in flood-prone areas should not rely on that," said Ray Roggow, Emergency Manager for Union County.
Officials will update citizens and answer questions at a planned community meeting. Residents of North Sioux City, McCook Lake and Dakota Dunes are asked to attend the meeting Wednesday, June 18 beginning at 6:30pm at Dakota Valley High School.
