The online repository – www.menshealthresourcecenter.com – will function as the most up-to-date, centralized clearinghouse for data and resources targeting male heath issues and concerns across the lifespan. Everything from easy-to-read articles about a wide variety of male health concerns to videos and self-administered tests is now under one URL.
The Resource Center is designed to be the go-to location for men looking for practical, accessible information. "This site will continue to grow and evolve as new information is added that is of interest and use to men and their families," said Ana Fadich, Vice-President of Men's Health Network. "Knowing that minority males face unique health challenges, we are also in the process of adding additional pages that target those specific health concerns."
The site is intended to function as a data repository for anyone seeking information about male health including resources on cancers, cardiovascular disease, and sexual and mental health concerns among many others. "It always helps to do research when you suspect you have a health issue," says Dr. Salvatore Giorgianni, science advisor to MHN. He notes that the Resource Center contains scientifically accurate material and will function as a trusted friend, providing relevant information to help men, as well as their families and partners, learn about prevention make informed decisions about their health care needs.
The launch of the site coincides with the 20th Anniversary of National Men's Health Week (NMHW), which is the week ending on Father's Day, June 9-15, 2014. NMHW was passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton in 1994. Additional support comes from governors and mayors who declare Men's Health Week in their states and cities.
