Children's Museum Receives Vision Iowa Grant

Posted: Updated:
SIOUX CITY, IA -

Plans to build a new children's museum in Sioux City are getting a major boost.

Vision Iowa is giving the museum a $900,000 grant that will put the wheels in motion towards construction.

The museum will be located by the old Hoak Motors at 7th and Pearl Streets, and parts of the building's façade will be incorporated into the new facility.

The grant nearly finalizes the $6 million needed for construction.

The museum, which has been in the works nearly 10 years, will feature hands-on, interactive displays and exhibits that are designed to teach kids about science, technology, engineering and math.

Executive Director Kari Kellen tells Siouxland News that ground breaking could take place in August and the museum could open next summer.
