Sunnybrook Medical Plaza Receives "Growing Sioux City" Award

SIOUX CITY, IA -

As Sioux City grows, so does the need for quality medical care. Today city leaders got a look at the city's newest medical facility. Council members visited the new Unity Point Saint Luke's Sunnybrook Medical Plaza and presented the new hospital with the "Growing Sioux City" award.

CEO Peter Thoreen accepted the award, saying the Sunnybrook Medical Plaza will help serve the growing residential area.

He said, "Our vision really for this building is to put providers in one spot that is convenient for patience and family. Improve service and quality. We're very excited about that. A lot of opportunities to grow in the future. It's been fun to watch this area of Sioux City Grow."

The Sunnybrook facility was built last year to help meet demand for outpatient services in Siouxland. Dr. James Webb said the new facility was enough of a draw to move his practice.

"It is something I believe whole heartedly in. And it was easy to jump from my location practicing in Spirit Lake to here. Still in Northwest Iowa, but serving a very visionary model of how health care can change positively," he said.

People with the medical plaza will also plant a tree on the grounds to symbolize the growth of Sioux City.
