Northbound I-29 Accident Stops Traffic Towards Downtown

Posted:
SIOUX CITY, IA -

Drivers Friday afternoon ran into a sticky situation on I–29 in Sioux City.

Just shortly before 2:30 p.m. an incident involving a Ford pick truck blocked the northbound exit to the downtown near the old Staples store, causing a traffic jam for nearly an hour and a half.

Officials said a trailer attached to the pickup began swaying when 54-year-old Owen Benson lost control and the trailer jackknifed.

Both Iowa State Patrol and Siouxland Paramedics were called to the scene.

No other cars were involved in the accident and no injuries have been reported.
