JACKSON, Miss., Jan. 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Yesterday, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) took a big step forward in approving geographic trials that will allow consumers to move to an all-IP, or Internet-based, network.

This move is important here in Mississippi as we seek to create economic opportunities and increase innovation.  Our elected leaders, including Gov. Phil Bryant, Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves, and Speaker Philip Gunn, have worked tirelessly to create an environment where private industries want to invest and grow.

Like the work our state leaders have done, this forward-thinking decision by the FCC will mean good things for both Mississippi and the country as companies invest more in the broadband and wireless services consumers' desire.  According to Pew Research, 49.4 percent of Mississippi adults live in a wireless-only household.
