Penn National Wants New License for Argosy; IRGC Says No to Fast-Track

The owners of Sioux city's Argosy casino want a re-do.

Penn National Gaming and its new non-profit, the Greater Siouxland Improvement Association, are trying to rush their application for a brand new license from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

Penn wants the Commission to take up the request at its monthly meeting next week.

But the IRGC's administrator said no - saying the commission will establish a timeline for considering the application.

Meanwhile, the commission is moving ahead with a planned hearing in March, because Penn doesn't have a current agreement with a licensed non-profit group.

Penn wants the commission to delay that hearing, because of Penn's lawsuit against the IRGC.
