(SIOUX CITY, IA) Have you ever thought about all the work that goes into your steak? Before you can taste the end product there's someone who has to do a little work to make it happen; the meat cutter. And a local restaurant has one of the best.
Sam Hansen recently won Texas Roadhouse's regional tournament where meat cutters show off their skills.
All of the competitors start with the same amount of meat and judging is based on the quality and quantity yield of their cuts.
The types of meat include Sirloins, Filets, and Ribeyes.
Hansen will soon compete with 30 to 40 other meat cutters in Orlando, Florida.
The top six competitors there go on to the finals on Amelia Island in Florida.
"Well I think it's important to us. I mean we have extremely high standards it's important for all of us. And we're all ultra–competitive so we all want to be the best at what we do," Hansen told us.
"Our strength is our preparation. That we're just going to out–work everybody. You know, I haven't been doing this longer than anybody... we're going to just everyday be in here cutting meat and we're just going to get super prepared."
Sam's next competition is February 6th. The winner will receive a $20,000 award.
