Center for Siouxland Hopes to "Make a Difference" for Siouxland Kids

SIOUX CITY, IA -

"Make a Difference Day" is Saturday, and one local group is using that opportunity to help Siouxland kids get books.

All week long, the Center for Siouxland's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will be accepting new and lightly used children's books to donate to local shelters.

They're partnering with local groups such as Siouxland Community Christian Schools, the Argosy Casino, and the Moville Senior Center to create drop off locations.

This is part of a nationwide campaign urging people to come together and make a difference in their communities.

"Literacy and numeracy is a problem in our community. Kids are falling below grade-level. So what better way than to get books in the hands of kids who need them. And that's the kids in the shelters."

To make a donation you can visit Siouxland Community Christian Schools, the Argosy Casino, the Moville Senior Center, or the Center for Siouxland, or call the Center at (712) 252-1861 extension 21.
