Sioux City Schools Superintendent Receives Award

SIOUX CITY, IA -

The Superintendent of the Sioux City Community School District has received a prestigious award.

The School Administrators of Iowa have named Dr. Paul Gausman "Superintendent of the Year" for the 2013 to 2014 school year.

Among the achievements the group cites is a higher graduation rate and better test performances, as well as efforts to fight bullying.

Gausman says he's proud to be recognized, but knows others are responsible for this award as well.

"I'm just so proud of our team. It's hard to focus that energy on me because it clearly isn't something that I could do alone. You know, our team has worked together for 4 or 5 years now. We developed a roadmap for success. We've stayed true to that roadmap for our success. When I talk about that, I'm talking about student achievement," Gausman said.

Gausman will be presented with his award at the School Administrators of Iowa convention next August.
