Primary Elections Will Push Forward 6 out 8 Council Candidates

UPDATE 11:00 PM

The results are in and we now know which six City Council candidates are moving on to November's general election.

Pete Groetkin - 2,371 votes
Dan Moore - 2,009 votes
Doug Batcheller - 1,633 votes
Keith Radig - 1,460 votes
Maria Rundquist - 1,234 votes
James France - 914 votes

Eliminated from the race are:

Chris Baltushis - 733 votes
Thomas Venesky - 338 votes

Groetkin, Moore, Batcheller, Radig, Rundquist and France will square off again in November 5th's General Election, for three open Council seats.

Sometimes it's hard finding someone who wants to work odd hours, do lots of studying, shuffle paperwork and do a whole lot of hand-shaking.  

Add to that list, doing those tasks for little pay.

But that's not the case in Sioux City when it comes to being a member of the City Council.

It's primary election day in Sioux City.

And eight people want a shot at the three open seats on the city council.

Tuesday's election will determine which six will move on to the general election on November 5th.

The candidates include incumbent Keith Radig,Chris Baltushis, Doug Batcheller, Jim France, Pete Groetken, Dan Moore, Maria Rundquist and Thomas Venesky.

The 13 polling centers open until 8 tonight. Voters can cast their ballot at any center.

Polling Center: Faith Lutheran Church

Polling Center: First Congregational Church
Address: 4600 Hamilton Blvd, Sioux City IA

Polling Center: Calvary Lutheran Church
Address: 4400 Central St., Sioux City IA

Polling Center: Central Baptist Church
Address: 4001 Indian Hills Drive, Sioux City IA

Polling Center: Peace Reformed Church
Address: 4100 Outer Drive North, Sioux City IA
