Pinwheels On Display at Sioux City Art Center

SIOUX CITY, IA -

A colorful, kids art project is going to be on display again Friday on the front lawn of the Sioux City Art Center.

Once again this year, students from across Siouxland have created thousands of  pinwheels that will get planted outside the Art Center. It's the fifth year of the "Pinwheels for Peace" project, which has a global reach.

"It was initiated by two women from Coconut Creek, Florida, who decided to have their students create the pinwheels for International World Day of Peace, which is actually this Saturday, September 21st, and as a way to express their feelings about what's going on in the world and their lives," said Lara Somers with the Art Center.

Teachers will plant the pinwheels starting at 6 A.M. Friday. They will be there all day long.

The Art Center hopes to have 3,000 of them for you to see.
