Jackson Recovery Center is Expanding

Posted:
SIOUX CITY, IA -

The Jackson Recovery Center is expanding. A new Child and Adolescent Recovery Hospital is being built on West Fourth street in Sioux City.

Thursday folks from the Recovery Center and city officials broke ground on the more than $9 million project. The hospital will create 25 new jobs and will specialize in crisis and stabilization of teens with severe mental health and addiction problems.

"I'm overjoyed and I'm really at a loss for words. I've been working so hard for 33 1/2 years with the hope that some day we'd be able to do this and when it finally happens it's overwhelming to be honest with you," said Kermit Dahlen, The President of Jackson Recovery Centers.

The hospital will have additional beds, a training center to educate families and the community about addiction, an education campus and a full time psychiatrist to address individual needs.
The building is expected to open in November of 2014.
