Mountain Lion Hunting Legalized in Nebraska

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE -

Mountain lion hunting will be allowed across most of Nebraska next year under new regulations approved by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

In 2004, a mountain lion was discovered in a tree at a South Sioux City home.

The animal was killed out of fears it might injure someone.

These new regulations will allow a slight to moderate reduction in northwest Nebraska's cougar population.

It also would permit year-round mountain lion hunting across most of the state beginning in 2014.
