Organizing for Action Holds Immigration Rally in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, IA -

A group that's in favor of the U.S. Senate's immigration reform bill is trying to pressure Congressman Steve King into approving the measure.

The Organizing for Action group gathered outside of King's local office today.

They support the Senate bill that would make it easier for an estimated 11 million people to gain citizenship.

Even though it passed Senate vote 68-32, King and other House Republicans who are opposed to what they call "amnesty for lawbreakers" have called the measure "dead on arrival."

"We want immigration reform. It passed by a bipartisan majority. We are asking today, Representative King to support this bill," said City Council candidate Maria Rundquist.

Iowa's two Senators split their votes on the bill.
