Pavement Collapse Results in Detour of Detour

SIOUX CITY, IA -

This summer's worst detour just got even worse.

Late Friday afternoon, the pavement started to buckle at 36th and Jackson.

That's the route that was already a detour, because of major bridge construction down the hill on Hamilton.

City crews tried to just close one lane of traffic, but the road kept buckling. Now 36th is shut down entirely from Jackson to Nebraska.

Now, drivers trying to get to Hamilton will have to take a detour around the detour.

Crews are working on the intersection; no word on how long repairs will take.
