Siouxland Man Disappears Into Missouri River

(SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE) Rescue crews are still working to find a man who disappeared into the Missouri River early Friday morning.

25 year old Anthony Campbell was pulled under the surface around 4 o'clock this morning.

He was wading in the water when currents moving around 12 miles per hour grabbed hold of Campbell.

The manager of Scenic Park in South Sioux City heard the woman who was with him screaming and quickly called 9–1–1.

"It's very fast moving, very swift. And it's not a body of water that we need to play with. It's just really, really dangerous to be... Even if you're an expert swimmer I don't think I would be going anywhere near this water," Kevin Boneschans of the South Sioux City Police Department told us.

Boats with side-scanning sonar from both the Iowa & Nebraska DNR were called to help, as well as divers from Yankton.

Crews did find a sock near the area where he went under but no other signs of him since.

We'll have updates on the recovery mission as we get them.
