WITCC Students Support Siouxland Red Cross

SIOUX CITY, IA -

Future police officers are pitching in to help another vital organization.

The Police Science club at Western Iowa Tech Community College made a $1,000 donation to the Red Cross today.

The students raised the money through T–shirt sales, and recording fingerprints for new nursing students.

The donation will make a big impact locally, and Red Cross officials hope they can build strong relationships for the future.

"We will work with police science, police science graduates in years to come in a lot of different facets, so we appreciate them understanding what it takes to be a part of the larger community," said Tammy Lee, Executive Director of the Red Cross of Siouxland

"Any time the community needs our help, we'll always be there, we reach out to the community sometimes to help, and sometimes we get community agencies that come to us for help, and police science will never stop doing that, we'll always be there," said WITCC Police Science Club President Mike Murray.

The Red Cross of Siouxland sent 14 volunteers to help clean up after Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast.
