(COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA) - Police charged a 19-year-old with kidnapping after an attempted abduction near an elementary school on Monday.

The Daily Nonpareil reports the 10-year-old victim was walking near Edison Elementary School when a man approached her and said, "What's up?" He then allegedly grabbed her arm and forced her to walk with him for several feet. The girl broke free and ran to a nearby family member.

Council Bluffs police told the Nonpareil the victim's father tracked down the suspect, Nathan Busse, and held him until officers arrived.

Busse faces charges of third-degree kidnapping, assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, enticing a minor, and child stealing. He's being held at the Pottawattamie County Jail.
