Bidding For Your Affection: Hard Rock Opens Welcome Office

(SIOUX CITY, IA) One of the three companies bidding to build a new casino in Sioux City is beefing up its efforts. The public can now visit the Hard Rock casino's new office in downtown Sioux City.

The building, at fifth and Douglas, is just one way the company is trying to gain more supporters.

But they've also tapped into the online world, a new marketing tactic that Penn National and Ho-chunk have also begun utilizing.

Many people use some form of Social media, it gives you easy access to a slew of information,
and the same goes for businesses or casino operators. Social media Expert, Beth Trejo, says it allows those organizations to get feedback immediately, which makes it easier to get their message out.

"You have to look to what's going to happen tomorrow, in terms of marketing and how you're going to position yourself," says Trejo, CEO of Chatterkick.

And that's exactly what all three casino operators are doing in Sioux City. Just take a look at the facebook pages.

Trejo says being socially plugged in is an essential marketing tool in today's world.

"People are so connected, locally, nationally, everyone's kind of one degree of separation away," she says. "And so when you have something like one of these projects, and people are really passionate about it, they really love it, or they really want to support it, they'll gravitate toward it and want to like the facebook page, and they want to be connected to the brand."

Trejo is the CEO of Chatterkick, a social media organization that helps business like the Hard Rock get connected.

"Just trying to communicate as many ways as possible. So again, anyone who has any questions can come down and see what we're proposing, talk to some of our team and just look online, get it that way as well," says Bill Warner, President of Sioux City Entertainment and Warning Gaming.

"You can rally supporters really quickly. They want to be connected at all times, and they want to know what's going on. It really shows how they feel and what they support," says Trejo.

But, Warner says they wanted to go a step further. They've moved into a renovated building downtown to give more people the Hard Rock experience, on a smaller scale, literally.

"When you look at it on a piece of paper, you really say, this is a great site," Warner says. "But when you come and see it and get an understanding what that building is about and the history with respect to Sioux City, just being able to tie that into the project is very exciting."

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will ultimately decide which operator will get the golden ticket to start building a downtown casino. The IRGC will be in Sioux City March 26, 2013 to see each proposal and get location tours.
