(SIOUX CITY, IA) You've probably heard the phrase, "Pay It Forward".
It's a random act of kindness, where someone picks up a bill, or buys something for somebody else. Here in Siouxland, more than 25 people have done just that, making the season brighter for many families in need.
They say, every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings, but that saying usually refers to the kind of angels up above. The kind with halos. But here in Siouxland and across the nation, another type of angel is looking out for families in need.
They're called layaway angels, and Kmart says it's had several of them this holiday season.
"I'm always amazed, a lot of random acts of kindness, people coming in, paying toward other peoples layaways," says Kmart Store Manager Justin Dreeszen.
Because, even with layaway, paying for holiday gifts can be a challenge for some people.
Enter the "layaway angels."
"They come in, and they ask back at the layaway counter, they'd like to pay for someone's layaway, and then we get approval to do that, find a suitable layaway that kind of meets their parameters," says Dreeszen.
Helping, not only parents, but kids as well.
"They want to more or less find some customers that have a lot of toys; something for the kids is what they want to do to just help ensure that someone has a better Christmas," he says.
Wishing Everyone Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!
