Snow Plows Dig Out Siouxland Road

Posted:
PLYMOUTH COUNTY, IA -

Siouxland lucked out Wednesday and Thursday.

Much of the state got more snow, but local roads were still dangerous Thursday morning; a few cars even made it into the ditch.

"They came up on that curb too fast," said Plymouth County Equipment Operator Dennis Binneboese, talking about two cars he saw slide into the ditch Thursday morning. "That's what happened."

Binneboese has driving plows in Plymouth County for around 35 years, but overall he says Wednesday night's storm wasn't all that bad.

Thursday he was spreading sand on County Road C80 in Plymouth County.

The roads weren't all that bad this time around, but Binneboese says there is one thing all drivers should remember this time of year.

If you don't want to get into an accident: slow down.

"That's basically almost 100% of the problem, too much speed,
 said Binneboese. "Almost always."

If it gets bad enough out there plow drivers have to work 12 hour shifts, but since the storm wasn't that bad Dennis said he was only looking at an 8 hour day Thursday.
