Slick Roads to Blame for Deadly SD Accidents

Posted:
SOUTH DAKOTA -

(SIOUX CITY, IA) Icy roadways proved deadly for drivers on I-29 Tuesday morning.

Around 7:00 AM, 27-year-old Angela Snoozy was driving north on I-29 just outside of Elk Point, South Dakota. The road was slick because of freezing drizzle, it caused Snoozy to lose control of her car. She crossed the median and hit a garbage truck. Snoozy wasn't wearing a seatbelt, she was thrown from her car and killed. The crash sent her car's engine flying back across the interstate. It hit another vehicle, but no one else was hurt.

A second deadly crash happened Tuesday morning just 20 miles to the north past the Spink, South Dakota exit. At about 7:40 AM 38-year-old Tonya Anderson of Akron, Iowa, was killed near mile marker 35. She was driving north on the interstate, but freezing drizzle and slick roads were to blame again. She lost control of her truck, went into the median and rolled. She was thrown from the truck and killed. Anderson also was not wearing a seatbelt.
