SIOUX CITY, IA -
Before Thanksgiving Day ended, hundreds were lining up outside Sioux City's Best Buy store, hoping to score some Black Friday deals.
You may wonder: what compels these people to stand out in the cold for hours?
The answer may surprise you.
Hundreds of people made up a line stretching all the way around the building, bargain hunters hoping to score some Black Friday deals at Best Buy.
"I'm here trying to get a PS3 for my Christmas," said Jasper Symons, as he waited in line at Best Buy on Friday.
The folks who were first in line had to make quite the commitment, getting in place before "Turkey Day" even began.
"(We've been here) since 6 PM on Wednesday," said Valerie Villa & Brennen Semple, the people who were first in line at Best Buy Friday.
While some use the night to make fashion statements with tightly wrapped blankets, others sit it out in style, finding a new use for a fishing shack.
"I think we got it up to about 70 degrees inside, it was good, we had a nice little heater there so it made it a lot easier," said Travis & Brad Roggatz, as they emerged from their fishing shack in the Best Buy line Friday. "We had DVD's, we were playing movies inside, I felt really bad for everybody else."
But what drives these people to sit out in the cold for hours, even days? Is it the number of undeniable deals?
Not really.
Some people say it's all about spending time together.
"It's just something fun to do together." said Semple.
"We decided this year we just wanted to spend more time together, which is really nice," said Villa. "I mean being in a tent for like 30 hours, we played board games, it's nice, it's not really that bad except when it gets really windy."
And at midnight when the doors opened, all bets were off.
Many made a mad dash to try and scoop up some treasures before they were all gone, or at least back to full price.
