Shoppers are looking beyond car dealerships for on-the-spot deals, according to a CreditDonkey.com survey.

64% said a seller’s willingness to haggle affects their decision to buy an item in a nationwide survey of consumers. Out of shoppers who haggle, 7 in 10 usually save at least 10%, according to the October 2012 survey conducted by credit card comparison website CreditDonkey.com.
While cars rank as the #1 most haggled item, with 40.3% of survey respondents indicating they have successfully negotiated over the price of a car, the other products they have managed to bargain over are surprising. “Savvy shoppers should try to haggle. There’s little to lose by simply asking merchants if this is the best price they can do,” says Charles Tran, founder of CreditDonkey.com. “Knocking 10% or 20% off the price of your next big ticket item can help stretch your holiday shopping budget.”
CreditDonkey.com surveyed 1,125 Americans, age 18 and over, about their holiday shopping plans between October 9 and October 23, 2012.
