(SIOUX CITY, IA) - Board members with the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors will remain the same for now.
Three candidates were up for re-election: Jackie Smith, Mark Monson, and Larry Clausen. All of which came out with a win.
Monson won with 51 percent of the vote compared to his opponent Dick Salem who got 48 percent. Jackie Smith won with 52 percent of the vote. 47 percent went to her opponent Linda Holub.
Meanwhile, Pat Gill keeps his spot as Woodbury County Auditor.
Monson and Smith told Siouxland News what it means to return as elected Supervisors.
"It's always a nail biter regardless of what election it is, and you have to go with it.you need one more vote to make it happen, and now we need to get to work," said Monson. "We've got CF industries coming in. We've got a land based casino regardless of who does it. That's going to provide jobs, and we need to develop them. The world is on notice that Woodbury County is open for business and were going to make that happen."
"Well, obviously it feels very good. It was touch and go for a long time when the results were coming in, but when the absentee votes came in, and then we all pulled ahead, that's what it really felt like, before that it was a nail biter. And I'm just excited to continue the work that I've been doing the last four years," said Smith.
