SPENCER, IA -
The Iowa State Fair has come and gone, summer's almost over, but you can still take the family out for some fun before fall.
The Clay County Fair is going strong in Spencer, Iowa.
You'll find plenty of shows, tons of rides and a lot of fun.
They call it the world's greatest county fair, and there's a reason the Clay County Fair earned that title.
If you're in doubt, just ask the experts, folks who have been hitting the midway for years.
"I just come here every year," said Roan Determan of Spencer. "I've been coming since I was little."
For some, it's all about the games. Spending some hard earned cash, hopefully winning big.
"I just play for fun usually," said Determan. "Spend five bucks in it and have fun."
But for others it's all about the rides, and a rush of adrenaline.
"I was just doing three, well, four back flips on this trampoline," said seven-year-old Anthony, one of the younger fair goers, after a turn on a bouncy trampoline ride.
If you're heading to the fair and don't know what to check out, the experts say the classic rides are always best.
"This year, bumper cars is my favorite ride," said Anthony.
The Clay County Fair runs through September 16th.
