Siouxland Mentor Program Seeking Volunteers

Posted:
SIOUX CITY, IA -

Do you think you have what it takes to help children succeed?

Mike Klassen has been working with fourth grader Arturo for four years now as part of the "Every Classroom Counts" program.

Klassen visits Arturo once a week, the two usually spend about 45 minutes reading, helping build confidence, boosting Arturo's grades and having fun, too.

"There's no pressure, there's not a lot of anxiety," said Klassen. "You come in and as a mentor if you don't think you can read better than a first grader, they'll teach you, trust me, he's taught me a lot."

But there are a lot of kids out there who need help and the program desperately needs volunteers.
