SIOUX CITY, IA -
Excitement, especially over the chance to debate Congressman Steve King, was just one of the messages congressional hopeful Christie Vilsack brought to Sioux City Thursday morning.
Vilsack spoke to a class of about 20 students at Morningside, saying her temperament and willingness to compromise are just some of the things that set her apart from her opponent in the race for Iowa's 4th District.
"I think he takes a position and I don't know that he can get into a room and listen to somebody else's point of view about that position. I think that's the biggest problem right now, is that we have a gridlock in congress," said Vilsack. "I mean, what has he done? What has he done in congress? Part of being a congressional member is to be able to get into a room of people you may not agree with, and find common ground."
Both Vilsack and King are still working out the schedules for their upcoming debates.
