SIOUX CITY, IA -
If you have a lot of back to school shopping to do and you're looking to save, you'd better shop August 3rd & 4th, because it's time to go tax free.
This weekend, the deals are easy to find.
"It's tax free on all apparel, clothing items and shoes that are under $100," said Jeff Olsen, a Spokesman for JCPenney. "It's equivalent to Black Friday, so yeah it can be very huge."
It's Iowa's 13th annual "Tax Free" holiday, and all kinds of people do their shopping, like Jeffrey Grell. He's saving up before heading back to school.
"I probably save about 50, 60 bucks maybe, because I can do all my back to school shopping," said Grell.
As stores try to keep up with the extra traffic, even employees can't resist a good deal.
"I'm a mom, I have kids that are getting ready for school, plus who doesn't want new stuff for fall?" said Niki Buss, Manager of Buckle in the Southern Hills Mall. "You know it's a change of season, those kinds of things, so it's always a good time to take advantage of it, if you're going to buy it anyway."
Shoppers like Jeff usually know exactly what they're looking for.
"Shirts," said Grell. "Got to look good for the ladies you know."
The "Tax Free" holiday runs until midnight Saturday.
