SIOUX CITY, IA -
A Sioux City man will spend up to 5 years in
jail for insurance fraud. It's a case that unraveled after a brawl with a
former employee.
Douglas Inlay was arrested back in 2011,
after a complaint was filed against him, saying he had been acting as an
insurance agent, without a license, and then producing fraudulent
insurance policies. In his plea deal, he agreed to testify against
another insurance agent who hasn't been charged just yet with a crime.
It started in 2011, when a former employee of
Inlay's reportedly assaulted him at his business, Agency One Insurance
near Lakeport Commons.
The former employee was tried and acquitted of assault charges.
That's when prosecutors accused Inlay of
forging the former employee's initials on insurance papers. He was also
charged with filing false insurance claims, and selling insurance
without a license.
Monday, Inlay accepted a plea deal and was
sentenced to five years in prison, and 4 years of probation. Prosecutors
agreed to suspend a 25-year sentence for running an ongoing criminal
enterprise - in exchange for his testimony against Pam Siroky.
She owns the Agency One Insurance company in
David City, Nebraska, outside of Omaha. Siroky hasn't been arrested or
charged with any crime, but the Nebraska Insurance Bureau confirmed to
us that her insurance license is currently under review.
The bureau refused to release details about
the investigation, and Inlay's attorney didn't return our phone calls
asking about Inlay's connection to Siroky.
When we tried to get in touch with Pam
Siroky, she was not at the office, an employee told us, she would try to
get a hold of her for a comment. We have not heard anything just yet.
