A completed four-lane Highway 20 is closer to becoming a reality.
That news comes from the Highway 20 Association meeting in Sioux City Friday morning.
A new five year program will complete a lot of the four-lane work from Correctionville to Moville through 2017, except for paving the Eastbound lanes.
Right now it's not known when work will be completed on the rest of Highway 20, but a representative from the Iowa DOT says four-lanes are in the future.
"I think it's mostly a matter time, when the funding will become available," said Tony Lazarowics, a District Engineer with the Iowa DOT. "I think there's certainly an interest in the commission to complete the U.S. 20 corridor."
The section of four-lane Highway 20 near Early, Iowa and Highway 71 should be finished before the end of the year.
