Science Camp Stuns Young Siouxland Scientists

Posted:
SIOUX CITY, IA -

Some Siouxland students aren't letting a break from school stop them from learning about science.

More than a dozen kids took part in the last day of the first ever CNOS Foundation Science Classic at East High School Thursday.

The folks with CNOS started the science camp this year to help improve the academic health of Siouxland's youngsters.

Thursday morning those young scientists were busy dissecting frogs.

Throughout the week, the kids learned everything from physics to chemistry, even anatomy and physiology.

"This has been an opportunity to get with people that enjoy science as much as I do," said Samuel Janowiak, a science camp attendee who will be a 6th grader at Dakota Valley next school year. "Because who would go to a science camp if they didn't really like science?"

Organizers say July's session has around 30 kids registered, they hope to make this camp an annual event.
