Contest Offers Big Prize To Homeowners

SIOUX CITY, IA -

Home buyers get a chance to win during National Homeownership Month.

The Iowa Finance Authority is teaming up with the Sioux City Board of Realtors, Re/Max, and Security National Bank for 'The Meaning of Homeownership' contest.

This month, people can stop by their real estate agent, write down what home ownership means to them, and snap a picture.

The person or couple with the most online votes will win a $1500 gift card, and the realtor or agent with the most total votes will win a $2500 community betterment grant.

"Whether it's backyard barbeques, or room to grow, a room of my own as some kids have told us already throughout the contest period, we really just want to know what home ownership really, truly means to Iowans," said Ashley Jared with the IFA.

The Iowa Finance Authority works throughout the state to provide down payment assistance for about 1500 home buyers every year.
