"Parking Meter Bandit" Sentenced

SIOUX CITY, IA -

One of the two so-called "Parking Meter Bandits" has been sentenced.

Daniel Richard has pleaded guilty to 2nd degree Criminal Mischief for his part in breaking parking meters downtown. He's been sentenced to 3 years probation.  He'll also be required to pay his part of $13,000 restitution, together with his co-defendant Steven Christoffers.

Christoffers is scheduled to stand trial in July but may make a similar plea agreement.

The 27 parking meters were stolen or damaged in late March. Richard and Christoffers were arrested April 19.
