Sioux City Neighborhoods Nervous As Search For Sexual Assault Suspect Continues

Posted:
SIOUX CITY, IA -

Three neighborhoods are on high alert as police continue to follow leads in the search for a sexual assault suspect in Sioux City.

Early Friday morning witnesses saw a man masturbating in public on a porch in a West side neighborhood.

He then went into an unlocked door and sexually assaulted a teenage girl on the North side.

After that the same man used an open window to get into a Morningside home, before being scared away.

As the search continues, the folks who live in those neighborhoods say they're not taking any chances.

"We don't leave the house without locking the door, even if we're just walking up the street," said Justin White, who lives near one of the crime scenes. "I don't even let my kid come outside by himself any more."

That's exactly what police are saying folks should do: lock doors and windows, and teach children to not talk with strangers.

Police have gotten a lot of tips on the case, but still haven't identified a suspect.

They're looking for a thin black man, who is taller than 6' 4".

Friday morning he was wearing dark clothes.

If you have any information call Crime Stoppers at 258 - TIPS.
