SIOUX CITY, IA -
It's a big day for the future of Sabre Industries' expansion into Southbridge Business Park.
Today, the City Council approved a series of deeds and leases for the company to move forward with construction.
Sabre will be the first business to build in the park, with plans to complete construction in several phases.
The first phase of the project will bring 200 new jobs to the area and another 100 new jobs are expected to follow.
"Sabre as a company is growing. They've got a lot of contracts to fulfill for the construction of towers, especially electrical transmission towers, and so, that's creating a big demand for their product so they need to expand as soon as they can and we're glad they're doing it in Sioux City," said Economic Development Director Mary Dougherty.
The council voted unanimously to approve the project.
Construction is expected to begin within the next few weeks and be completed in early 2013.
