SIOUX CITY, IA -
Siouxland is seeing a major drop in unemployment.
According to Iowa Workforce Development, the Sioux City metro saw a three year low in unemployment, with the unemployment rate at 5 percent in April.
The Siouxland Chamber of Commerce says new jobs are coming from a combination of sources, including construction, small businesses and retail.
"They're small growth, which we think is a positive indication, and we think there's some renewed optimism in not only the national economy, but in our local economy, and we'll keep our fingers crossed and hope that continues," said Chamber President Chris McGowan.
Iowa's unemployment also fell in April from the month before, from 5.2 to 5.1 percent.
