An incredible tale of survival.
Billy Kammerer who a was hit while riding his bike and dragged more than 100 feet by a truck in Sioux City. After weeks of surgery in a Minneapolis hospital, he's back in Sioux City at Mercy Medical Center.
He's very sore, but he says he's doing all right, and he's glad to be back in Sioux City, seeing his girlfriend for the first time in 3 weeks. He has a lot of rounds of physical therapy to go before he's back on his feet. But he says he'll never forget the April morning he was hit.
And since then, he has racked up several medical bills, as well as is house payments. It will be weeks before he can work again. Friends and co-workers say it's going to be hard for him to pay those bills with out a little help.
So they set up the William Kammerer Donation fund, and are holding a benefit day in his honor. It will be Monday, May 28th, 2012 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. ANYONE is invited to come out, and all proceeds will go to Billy. KMEG 14's Heather Leigh will be there to cover the event.
