Book outlines importance of discipleship in making effective Christians
Sacramento, Calif. (PRWEB) May 17, 2012
In his new book, “The Church Needs a New Model: The Present One is too Weak” (published by WestBow Press), Dr. D.C. Olson outlines a plan to disciple Christians through the local church. Olson, a retired minister who continues to travel and preach, wrote the book because of the failure he sees in the current Church system.
“The key to making stronger and more effective Christians has been in the New Testament all along,” Olson says. “We need to understand that all Christians need to grow. Only then can we really move forward with our Christian life.”
Olson, who continues to minister at churches in the Stockton, California area, highlights discipleship as the key to Christian growth. The book combines Olson’s reflections with theological commentary that will reach both leaders and everyday believers alike.
“Victory and an abundant life is the reward promised in the New Testament for everyone willing to be a true disciple,” Olson says. “It really works--Jesus truly changes lives. Harnessing that power is what becoming a disciple is all about.”
