Siouxland Law Enforcement Remembers Fallen Officers

SIOUX CITY, IA -

Officers took a moment today to remember their fallen colleagues.

Sioux City Police, the Woodbury County Sheriff's Department, and the FBI honored nine area officers killed in the line of duty.

The ceremony is a chance to remember their sacrifices, and the loss of family and friends.

"It's very important to the officers, it gives them time to reflect, and also, think about the dangers that are possibly out there, we all understand this job is a dangerous job, and that something like that could happen to anybody at any time. We're willing to take that risk, and we enjoy what we're doing, and we'll continue to do it," said Sioux City Police Department Chief Doug Young.

The ceremony marks the beginning of National Law Enforcement Week.
