DAKOTA DUNES, SD -
Nearly a year after the flood of 2011, Dakota Dunes residents celebrated in style.
The country club hosted a bonfire on the 18th green Friday night.
Ironically, the evening actually got postponed twice for rain in the past few weeks, but the community didn't give up.
Recently, volunteers spent three days cleaning up debris, trees and trash from the course.
Now they're relaxing and reminiscing about last summer.
"We're celebrating the fact that we survived the Missouri River flood, and so we said we were going to have a survivor party. So we are wearing bandanas, we're having music and just trying to have a good time," said Dakota Dunes resident Anita Gingerich.
The community expected a pretty good turnout and they partied well into the night.
