SIOUX CITY, IA -
Nearly 70 years after World War II an American hero is finally getting the recognition he deserves.
On Friday, Kenneth Ingram was presented six medals from his time in the war.
The presentation was at Congressman Steve King's office in Sioux City.
Ingram enlisted in the army in 1943, he was in an Aviation Engineer Battalion in the Pacific Theater during the war.
Until now he says he didn't think anyone really cared about his military service.
"I would imagine that there's a lot of people that probably don't know they're entitled to these, you know, veterans that were more combat-wise than I was," said Ingram. "But I'm proud of what I got and proud of my family, that they arranged this for me."
So why did it take so long for Ingram to get recognized?
He says he doesn't know, he figured those medals just got lost in the shuffle.
