The infographic shows a breakdown of medical malpractice payouts over time, but focuses mainly on statistics from 2011. These new figures available show that although Florida has a much greater number of payouts as a whole in 2011, it is Louisiana that leads the pack in number of payouts given the population of the state.

The data used was from the 2011 data that was released in March, 2012. The states that were focused on for the “Southeast Edition” are Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
