PAULLINA, IA -

You first heard Kenneth Weishuhn's story last week.

He was a 14-year-old high school freshman who committed suicide after he was bullied for being gay.

Since his death the support for him and the family he left behind hasn't stopped.

Friday more than 50 of Kenneth's family and friends went for a walk for him in Paullina, Iowa.

The crowd was hoping to keep his memory alive and shine a spotlight on the bullying that pushed him to suicide.

More than one hundred feet were hitting the track in Paullina, taking a walk for Kenneth Weishuhn.

"He was a fun and joyful kid," said Molly Groepper, a Sophomore at South O'Brien High School who was supporting Kenneth Friday.

Kenneth's friends and family braved the rainy, windy weather in a continuing show of support that hasn't ended since Kenneth's death.

"There has been a lot of support for us and it's been awesome," said Misty Vitrano, Kenneth's Aunt.

There was a free will donation for a 5K walk, t-shirts for sale, and even a bake sale to help Kenneth's family cover funeral costs.

But the crowd of supporters had another purpose Friday: to help stop the type of bullying that pushed Kenneth to suicide.

"For the other people who are getting bullied, you know, and not just in South O'Brien, not just in Northwest Iowa, across the nation, we need to raise awareness, and something needs to be done," said Vitrano.

A crowd of supporters going for one more walk before they say goodbye to a long time friend.

"We'll miss him and we'll just have to move on," said Groepper.

Kenneth's was a life cut short, but a memory that won't be forgotten.
