Sioux City Police Working To Keep Prescription Drugs Out of Young Hands

SIOUX CITY, IA -

The Sioux City Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Agency and area pharmacies for the spring National Prescription Drug Take–back.

You can bring in expired antibiotics, narcotics, and any other solid medication with no questions asked.

This helps keep drugs away from landfills, and out of the reach of children.

"The DEA released some information in terms of how many people use, or how many kids use drugs that are found in their own homes when they start using or abusing drugs, and they usually take them from their own family members, and then there's a concern also about drugs being flushed down into the water supply system," said Capt. Lisa Claeys with the SCPD.

There are four drop off locations in Sioux City: the downtown Walgreens, Southern Hills Mall Hy–Vee, Westside Fareway, and Floyd Wal–Mart.

You can drop off drugs between 10 A.M. and 2 P.M. Saturday.
