(SIOUX CITY, IA) The Community Action Agency of Siouxland invited guests from throughout Siouxland to visit a Head Start classroom this week and read to kids.
KMEG 14's Erika Thomas stopped by Miss Amber's class of 4 and 5 year olds at Riverside School today and read two books: "Wide Awake Jake" and "Here Comes the Rain".
The goal is to spark the love of literacy at a young age.
"It's important for our children to see other people getting excited about books and reading, that gets them more excited and the kids really enjoy that time, that one-on-one. Making connections with the books and I think seeing other people read to them, they see the importance of why reading is important," said Amber Fenk, Head Start Teacher.
